Three picks and you’re in. Choose your hotspot and radio, choose a module, and copy the settings straight into your gear.

1

WHAT ARE YOU USING?

D-Star radios can’t join: cross-mode audio to D-Star needs an AMBE transcoder, and XLX245 doesn’t run one. Fusion and DMR share a vocoder, so they hear each other fine.

2

WHICH MODULE?

Most of the regulars are on module B. Pick another to find whoever’s linked there.

Expert → SSH Access, then run Update from the Admin page.
Step by step
  1. Configuration → MMDVMHost Configuration: switch YSF Mode on and Apply Changes.
  2. Yaesu System Fusion Configuration → YSF Startup Host: pick XLX245 and Apply Changes. If it isn't offered, add the host line above by SSH, run Update, and look again.
  3. On the radio, set the transmit DG-ID to 11. That puts you on module B, Local.
  4. Prefer the Wires-X button? Press it, search for XLX245, connect, then set the DG-ID the same way.
  5. Key up, give your callsign, and listen for the courtesy tone before you go again.

DG-ID 0 lands you on whatever module the reflector treats as its default. Setting the DG-ID is the only way to be sure which module you're on.
